Community Threads is a grassroots initiative using fashion to strengthen community, reduce waste, and make quality clothing accessible to all through joyful, sustainable pop-up events.
Supporting Our Community
The clothing collected at our events continues to serve the community long after the event ends. Extra items are shared with neighbors in need by our partner Hand to Hand. Through these efforts, clothing stays in circulation and out of landfills while meeting real human needs with dignity and care.
Sustainability / Circular Economy
We keep clothes out of landfills by keeping them circulating and in use within our community.
Clothes that are torn or stained are taken to the Santa Monica College Fashion Department so the fabric can be upcycled into new clothing.
